The success of digital transformation (DT) projects has become a critical issue for technology-oriented organizations across the globe. Empirical studies on the drivers of DT project success remain an area of interest to experts across various domains, particularly in information systems. Therefore, this research aims to empirically test the effect of institutional pressures (IP) on DT success (DTS) through the mediating role of digital ambidextrous capabilities (DAC). The study collected data from 310 information systems project professionals across diverse industries in Pakistan using purposive sampling. The gathered data were analyzed through SmartPLS software. The findings of our research show a positive relationship between IP and DTS, with DAC positively mediating this relationship. The presented research model delineates how external pressures- coercive, mimetic, and normative- shape organizational DTS. Incorporating DAC as a mediator adds an enlightening, fresh dimension to the present discussion.
